Community members: vacancies

We are recruiting local people to become community members. This means you will be a member on one of our decision making committees or working groups, helping make commissioning decisions that will steer the development of NHS health and care services in Islington.

You will work alongside our staff and Governing Body members, NHS providers, external partners such as HealthWatch and the voluntary sector and local GPS.

You do not need any specialist knowledge or experience to be involved in this work. However, we do ask you are passionate about the NHS and local health and wellbeing. We are looking for confident individuals who are committed to bringing a community perspective to the development of local NHS health and care services. You must be an Islington resident, or registered with an Islington GP, and be able to attend day time meetings, which usually take place every one to two months for 2 hours.

Islington CCG offers training and support with the role. The role is unpaid but expenses are covered. The CCG also organises twice yearly networking meetings for all our community members to meet each other and hear about what’s going on in other working groups.

Application process

If you’d like to become a community member for one of the groups, the next step is to submit your CV and application, explaining in no more than 200 words why you are interested in the role. There is no deadline for applications. We are recruiting people as and when we find suitable candidates.

If your application is successful, we will let you know which committees or working groups we have vacancies on and send you the Terms of Reference for these. You can choose which of the committees you are most interested in attending. We will then invite you in for an interview with the Chair of the committee and a member of the engagement team at our offices.

If you are recruited to the role you will be required to complete a Disclosure Barring Service check and a declaration of interests form.
