Improved social, emotional and mental health offer for children and young people

Islington Clinical Commissioning Group and Islington Council are delighted to announce that from 30th September 2019, we will be integrating social, emotional and mental health services for children and young people within a central point of access, based at 222 Upper Street, Islington.

This will enable greater access to, and choice of, support whilst helping to reduce waiting times. The move follows an extensive period of engagement and collaboration with local young people, families and local partners about how we can make sure more children and young people get the support they need more quickly.

What will this mean for referrals?

From 30th September 2019, all referrals into the central point of access will first receive safeguarding screening by Children's Services Contact Team, before being passed on to the most appropriate service as identified by a multi-agency intake team.

Social, emotional and mental health services offered include:

  • emotional wellbeing services including Barnardo’s, The Brandon Centre, Targeted Youth Support Counselling service and the Isledon Wellbeing service
  • child and adolescent mental health services
  • early help services including Bright Start, Families First, Islington Families Intensive Team, Adolescent Multi-Agency Support Service and Targeted Youth Support
  • social prescribing including third sector services and digital services such as online counselling
  • social care

How can I make a referral?
